Pierpaolo Vacca

Musician

Born in Ovodda, in the province of Nuoro, Pierpaolo Vacca made his debut accompanying traditional dances in town squares, folk groups and processions during the island’s most important folkloristic festivals and beyond. After his early experiences with local folk-rock bands, he shared the stage on several occasions with the Modena City Ramblers during their concerts in Sardinia.
Since 2014, together with       guitarist and singer Giuseppe Muggianu, he has been leading the project “In giro per canzoni”, which is a show dedicated to Italian songwriters. Since 2018 he has been running a solo show in which Sardinian traditional music is reinterpreted in a personal style characterised by the use of electronic effects and loopers. After a short stay in Dakar, thanks to the collaboration with the Cherimus association, the Sardinian-Senegalese band “Gegò Yegó” was formed, and their debut album was recorded. He gained national attention between 2021 and 2023 by participating in Tango Macondo, a theatrical performance put on stage the Teatro Stabile di Bolzano. Here, he shared the scene with Paolo Fresu and Daniele di Bonaventura. This production spawned a record featuring the voices of Malika Ayane, Tosca, and Elisa. The latter invited Pierpaolo to perform together with Paolo and Daniele for the final date of her “An Intimate Night” tour, held in 2024 at the Teatro Arcimboldi in Milan. Since 2022 he has been collaborating with the actor Paolo Floris in the performances “Storia di un uomo magro” and “Gramsci spiegato a mia figlia”. In 2023 he was involved in another original production, Org-net, produced by “Insulae Lab”, a music production center based in Berchidda. His first solo album, “Travessu”, was released in 2024 by Tuk Music, enjoying success. In March 2025 he appeared on prime time on Rai 3 in Geppi Cucciari’s TV show “Splendida Cornice”, where he performed his own arranged version of Libertango along with the show’s house band.
