Edoardo Albinati was born in Rome in 1956 and has worked for thirty years as a teacher at Rebibbia prison: this experience was described in the diary Maggio selvaggio. He has taken part in several humanitarian missions with UNHCR and INTERSOS in Afghanistan, Chad, Niger, and Serbia, which were made into reportages published by Il Corriere della Sera, La Repubblica, and The Washington Post. He has written screenplays for film directors like Matteo Garrone and Marco Bellocchio. Some of Edoardo Albinati’s books include Orti di guerra, 19, Tuttalpiù muoio (with Filippo Timi), Sintassi italiana, Svenimenti, Vita e morte di un ingegnere, Cuori fanatici, Desideri deviati, La tua bocca è la mia religione, Uscire dal mondo. In 2016 he won the Strega prize, Italy’s most important literary award with his novel La scuola cattolica. His most recent work is the novel I figli dell’istante (Rizzoli, 2025).
