About Us

The Island of Stories is a three-day cultural institution which transforms Gavoi into a unique space of exchange and communication without borders. For the past seventeen editions, more than a thousand guests, writers, journalists, intellectuals, artists, musicians, from all over the world, with their stories and with their personal story, have gathered people around the village squares and streets in one of the most important literary events of the region. Across boundaries, it has become one of the points of reference for similar experiences.

An entire village actively and enthusiastically supports the event with many volunteers of all ages- the so-called “red t-shirts”. A heterogeneous, numerous and passionate audience follows, in a familiar and relaxed atmosphere – as only the endless summer days and a welcoming land like Sardinia can offer – the stories and the people who narrate them passionately to anyone willing to listen to them.
