Francesco Abate

Francesco Abate was born in Cagliari in 1964. Journalist at L’Unione Sarda, he debuted as a writer in 1996. He has written 14 novels for Castelvecchi, Il Maestrale, Frassinelli, Edizioni Ambiente, Piemme and Enaudi. He has participated in 10 collections of short stories and has written plays, TV scripts and screenplays for movies. Some of his books have been translated in France, Germany, Holland, Belgium and Greece. He won the Solinas Prize for the best subject with Ultima di campionato in 1999, the Libraio Prize ‘Città di Padova’ for Mi fido di te in 2007, the Prix Littèraire des Jeunes Européens in Lyon for Le chroniqueur sans coeur in 2010, the Alziator Prize for Chiedo scusa in 2011, and the Lawrence Award for Un posto anche per me in 2014. His last novel is Torpedone trapiantati (Einaudi, 2018).
