Filomena Campus

Jazz singer, composer and theatre director, Filomena Campus has lived in London since 2001 where she founded the Theatralia company. Very well-known in the world of the avant-garde jazz and famous for her free improvisation, she has collaborated with some world famous musicians such as Evan Parker, Paolo Fresu, Antonello Salis, Orphy Robinson, Guy Barker, Jean Toussaint, Byron Wallen, Cleveland Watkiss, Antonio Forcione, as well as the London Improvisers Orchestra, with whom she has pressed a live CD, Improvisations For George Riste. In 2008 she directed the musical show Misterioso, written by Stefano Benni with the music by Thelonious Monk. In 2009 the Filomena Campus Quartet was born, with Steve Lodder at the piano, Dudley Phillips at the double bass and Martin France at the drums. In 2003 the project Italy VS England was created with Stefano Benni and the original music by the Filomena Campus Quartet, with Cleveland Watkiss as a special guest. Her new album in collaboration with the guitarist Giorgio Serci and some guests such as the legendary Kenny Wheeler, the Brazilian percussionist Adriano Adewale and the arches orchestra Keld Ensemble, will be ready to be published in 2014. Filomena Campus is also the creator of the international festival My Jazz Islands, between Sardinia and the UK that obtained an extraordinary success in its first edition in 2013.
