Bruno Mazzoni

(1946) Professor of Romanian Language and Literature at the University of Pisa in the department of Philology, Literature and Linguistics. He has studied Romanian literature and has deeply analysed the great Romanian poetry of the XX century. Mazzoni has translated some works of the poet Ana Blandiana such as Un tempo gli alberi avevano occhi (co-written with Biancamaria Frabotta, edited by Donzelli), but also the authors Mircea Cărtărescu, Herta Müller, Max Blecher and Denisa Comănescu. In 2003 the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage awarded him the Premio nazionale per la traduzione. He was given two honorary degrees by the University of Bucharest and in 2001 by Universitatea de Vest (Timişoara).
