Poet, writer and novelist, Ana Blandiana is one of the most complex and outstanding authors on the Romanian and European literary and intellectual scene. Her rich and diverse production, in prose and rhyme, has been translated into many languages. Romanian communist regime made her a victim of censorship. Therefore, she is admired and considered a symbol of civil and human redemption of the first feverish years in post-communist Romania. In Romania she is regarded as an unprecedented example of civic and ethical commitment. Among her works published in Italy there are Un tempo gli alberi avevano occhi, (poetry, Donzelli 2004); Progetti per il Passato, (fantastic prose, Anfora 2008) and Il mondo sillaba per sillaba, (travel prose, Saecula Edizioni 2012). She has been awarded the Acerbi and Camaiore prizes in 2005, and the prize “Città dell’Aquila” in 2007.
